CPR & First Aid Training

The Grundy County Health Department is offering American Heart Association Heartsaver courses this summer. These courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card, or for anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

 All classes will be in the GCHD Annex Building, just west of the health department (1307 E. 17th Street) Registration is required by signing up online or by calling the health department at 660-359-4196. Registration link:

The following courses will be offered:

  • Heartsaver CPR/AED Course (CPR and AED only) - July 17, 9-11:30 a.m. $35

  • Heartsaver First Aid Course (First Aid only) - July 18, 1-3:30 p.m. $25

  • Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid Course - Aug. 14, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. $35

Course fees cover the cost of the materials and AHA certification.

The AHA’s Heartsaver CPR/AED course trains participants to give CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

The Heartsaver First Aid course trains participants first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform life-saving skills.

Official certification will be provided by the American Heart Association. A certification card will be delivered to the participant via email upon successful completion of the course. Certification is valid for two years.

The GCHD is also offering an American Heart Association Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid Class for Daycare Providers. This class will be offered on July 31 and Aug. 1, starting at 5:30 p.m. both evenings. The course fee is $35. This is for daycare providers needing pediatric certification in CPR, AED and First Aid. An electronic certification card will be sent via email upon successful completion of the course.
