Vaccine Availability
The Grundy County Health Department has COVID-19 vaccine available, please call (660) 359-4196 for an appointment.
Flu Vaccine Available
The Grundy County Health Department has flu vaccine available for all ages on Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm and 2-4 pm. No appointment is needed. Vaccine available for all ages, including High Dose vaccine for people 65 and over. Please bring Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance card for billing purposes. Donations will be accepted for individuals who are uninsured.
CDC COVID-19 Community Levels and Guidance
Cases have leveled off in the United States; the CDC has updated their recommendations with community risk level metrics and guidance tailored to each level: low, medium, high.
CDC looks at the combination of three metrics to determine the COVID-19 community level:
new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days
percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients
total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days

Low Risk

Medium Risk
If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions

Booster Dose Information
Pfizer-BioNTech
Everyone 12 years and older should get a booster at least 5 months after your second shot
Pfizer only booster for teens age 12-17
Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA vaccines) are preferred in most situations for adults
Moderna
Adults 18 years and older should get a booster at least 5 months after your second shot
Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA vaccines) are preferred in most situations for adults
Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen
Adults 18 years and older should get a booster at least 2 months after receiving your dose of J&J
Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA vaccines) are preferred in most situations for adults
On December 16, the CDC endorsed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendation that expressed a clinical preference for individuals to receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine over Johnson & Johnson.
