Don't Procrastinate on Your Child's School Shots

We know, we know--summer just started, it's WAY too soon to be thinking about the 2018-19 school year. That's not the case for the gang at the Grundy County Health Department, our summer is spent getting kids ready to start school this August. Our message to you this summer: Don't procrastinate, get those school shots early!

These grade levels will need shots before August:

Required: DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), Polio, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) , Varicella (chickenpox) Recommended: Hepatitis A

8th Grade

Required: TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), MCV (meningococcal) Recommended: HPV (human papillomavirus), Hepatitis A

12th Grade

Required: MCV (meningococcal) Recommended: HPV (human papillomavirus), Men B (meningococcal), Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis A

To avoid a last minute rush, the Grundy County Health Department is offering an incentive for students that come in early: a $10 gift card for appointments before July 1 and a $5 gift card for appointments before August 1. Evening appointments are available.

Avoid the August rush by scheduling your appointment this month. Call the Grundy County Health Department at (660) 359-4196 to make an immunization appointment for your child.
